Review Of Taste of the Wild Dry Dog Food, Pacific Stream Canine Formula with Smoked Salmon, 30-Pound Bag

After I Buy Taste of the Wild Dry Dog Food, Pacific Stream Canine Formula with Smoked Salmon, 30-Pound Bag

I've done hours and hours of homework on high quality, grain-free dog foods. From product analysis, kcal analysis, ingredients, customer reviews, professional reviews, company recalls - all of it... I have become a mini-expert in the field.

I was pushed into becoming an expert because my yellow Lab kept having seizures and I couldn't figure out the source. I finally learned it was her food, which was the most expensive store bought brand my local Sams Warehouse carries. I thought I was giving her the best, it looked fresh and rich, but it turns out it was just absolutely terrible food. My black Lab also had terrible skin allergies, to the point where I would get a small rash on my skin if he laid next to me on the couch for more than 5 minutes at a time. I had no clue it was because of the food. But it was!

Since having that epiphany and learning so much about dog food, I've always made sure to feed them the highest quality grain free food I can buy. This Taste of the Wild (TOTW) fits the bill very nicely, and they love it. Since switching to a grain free diet, the yellow lab has not had any more seizures in over a year, and the black lab has the silkiest coat you've ever seen and his skin allergies are completely gone.

They are on 2/3rds dry and 1/3rd wet combination. Contrary to what I had previously been raised to believe, a wet diet is not bad for dogs but in fact is superior! I use the combination to save money while providing them the best I can.

Before deciding on TOTW, I had also tried Blue Buffalo, Wellness Core, and Orijen. Briefly: they are all good foods, but my labs were happiest on TOTW and my wallet is also happiest on TOTW. I also believe TOTW has a better formulation for them and their life style (some of the products, like Orijen, are simply too rich for the average household dog, despite being made of the best ingredients available).

Enter TOTW. The dry food is dark and rich, with no sign of crumbling. The kibble is a good average size. The wet food has nice chunks of meat and the right amount of gravy. I use the wet food as a topper to mix the 2/3rd dry and 1/3rd wet together for their meals. I use one whole can of wet per meal with my pack, which is convinient so I don't have to store it in the refrigerator - btw, never store canned dog food in the fridge in the original aluminum container!

I still wish I could find a less expensive product with the same quality, but in the mean time, TOTW is the best choice for my pack.

One thing I'd never thought I'd ever consider myself very knowledgeable about would be piddle pads. I'm a pro. I've tried several different brands and know what I want and don't want in them. Yes, I've used the medical chucks and they do work for me, but because my Liam can be a roamer, sometimes they aren't as optimal as I'd like. The chucks, which are fairly inexpensive, measure only 17" x 24 inches. In my short video clip you can see the difference between them and the All-Absorb, which is a much, much better option.

You really have to think about your reason for ordering this size pad. If you have a small dog under ten pounds, these will be perfect. If you have a large breed pup who will quickly outgrow them, you'll be sorely disappointed. I use them year-round, but many people use them during the winter months because their dogs can't go out in inclement weather.

FEATURES:

► Quick drying surface prevents tracking

► The super-absorbent core can turn urine into gel instantly and hold up to 3 cups of liquid

► Built-in attractant and odor neutralizer

► Perfect for training or assisting aging dogs

► Leak proof

► Standard Size (22"x23")

The surface of the All-Absorb pads quickly wicks away the liquid into the fiber. Sometimes the thicker pads tend to keep the liquid on the surface for some reason, but the All-Absorb work well in this regard. I change pads often and you'll have to consider how many you'll use when you decide to order. One hundred pads will probably last long enough to get that pup trained.

I'm not having any "adjustment" problems with the All-Absorb and I do like the added width. The All-Absorb pads are specifically made for training, although they are perfect for the inside dog. There are directions for use on the side of the box. Once again, make sure that you order these pads for a smaller breed dog. If you disregard the measurements and and they don't suit your pet's needs you can't blame the pads. Very nice pads and perfect for smaller breed dogs, especially those little rovers.

Review Of KONG Cat Cozie Kickeroo Catnip Toy (Assorted)

After I Buy KONG Cat Cozie Kickeroo Catnip Toy (Assorted)

My cat is OBSESSED with her raccoon kickaroo. She carries it around in her mouth all day and loves to play fetch with it. I frequently wake up with it on top of me in bed from her wanting to play fetch in the middle of the night.. She also rolls around with it and licks it a lot. She has not taken to any other toy to the extent that she loves this one. Just picking it up and crinkling it at her, she goes nuts. My other cat also likes the raccoon and likes to kick it, but she likes to kick other toys too. And she's not wildly obsessed like the first cat is..

The toy is very lightweight even though it is large. The sound is a little irritating when you are trying to sleep, but there are much more irritating toys out there.

I've had the toy for nearly 2 months now, and considering my cat plays with it ALL DAY LONG, it is holding up very well. The felt on the face is getting a little fluffy, but none of the seams have split, the ears are still attached, and it has no holes. The fur (especially on the tail) is the kind of synthetic fur that is sort of curly and slippery and greasy-feeling (it's just the nature of the material). Considering how spitty the toy ends up in my house, it's probably a good thing because the fibers don't hold the spit.

I would recommend this toy as long as you can stand the prospect of listening to crinkling all day.

[Update - March 4, 2012]

Ok, so I've had the raccoon for 5 months now. The ears are now gone and the face is totally unrecognizable, but my cat still carries it around, and I still wake up with it in my bed. There are still no split seams (even where the ears were -- they are chewed-off black felt nubs now, but the seam didn't actually rip). There ARE some threads coming off it, but the whole thing is still structurally sound and there are no holes. I have not had to repair it in any way. It's still going strong.

My cat does have a new toy that she likes just as much, but the raccoon still hasn't been deposed. Basically I just took a small stuffed walrus around the same size as the raccoon and stuffed it full of high-potency organic catnip. (Yeowww! 100% Organic Loose Catnip, Leaf and Bud Blend, 1 Ounce Pouch) She carries it around just like she does with the raccoon. I think if I sewed a crinkly candy wrapper into it she would be even happier. Something about the combination of large fuzzy toy, crinkle, and catnip just does it for her.

Review Of Nylabone Giant Original Flavored Ring Bone Dog Chew Toy

After I Buy Nylabone Giant Original Flavored Ring Bone Dog Chew Toy

I really like this toy for my yellow lab puppy. He really enjoys corners, and if he can find one, he will demolish it. Regularly shaped Nylabones last around a month. This ring has been super fun! He likes to play with it a lot because it's round, so he can stick his paw in to secure it, and then chew. It's very sturdy, but there is another version of it called the "Gumabone" for younger pups. I wouldn't go over 5mos with Gumabone products. This toy is really fun for dogs, almost indestructable, it's super!

Review Of GREENIES Original Canine Dental Chews - Large Size - Value Tub (36 oz.) - 24 Count

After I Buy GREENIES Original Canine Dental Chews - Large Size - Value Tub (36 oz.) - 24 Count

I have been feeding our dogs Greenie bones since they first came out and we have NEVER had a problem. I have German Shepards, Dobermans and medium sized hound dogs. They all love their GB's and I find that because our Dobie tends to be a "garbage belly" (meaning she'll eat anything!), so sometimes she doesn't smell as nice as she should, really benefits from the "green" in Greenie Bones. I would like to know where "E. Antic" gets his/her information from.....as I can find nothing that says they are "deadly", except for those people that haven't done responsible research (not just hearsay from some list). If your dogs are gulpers or greedy chewers, then I wouldn't feed them ANYTHING, especially RAWHIDE, that could be gulped and swallowed in large pieces or whole. Do we need to bring up "NYLABONES"????? Always be a responsible dog owner and supervise your dogs when giving any kind of treats. Please don't be afraid of Greenie Bones because of E. Antic's post. You can buy Greenie's in singles, so try one before you commit to a whole box. I have friends that have dogs that don't really like them and that's okay. My girls live for their morning GB's and I now give them Greenie "Smart Biscuits" for an afternoon snack. They love the taste and we love them for the 'benefits'!!

I respectfully request that Amazon and Amazon members make up their own minds, and not fall to the 'fear mongers' and ignorance amoung us. Always supervise your dogs when giving treats - after all, they are the animals and we are supposed to be the 'smart' ones.....don't be afraid, do your homework, it always pays!

Review Of Cat Dancer 301 Cat Charmer Interactive Cat Toy

After I Buy Cat Dancer 301 Cat Charmer Interactive Cat Toy

when I took this out of the packaging, I was very skeptical of its entertainment value...simply a long piece of wildly colored fleece material held onto a plastic rod by an end cap made out of yet more plastic. Having just purchased some pretty sophisticated cat toys, (peek-a-boo box, crazy panic undercover mouse, crinkle tunnel, laser toys), I thought this cat charmer would fall by the wayside. Not so. As I removed it from the packaging, my two 3 month old kittens materialized out of nowhere, two pairs of eyes wide as saucers staring the toy down, little bodies tense and trembling with barely contained excitement as they waited for it to do something...then when I moved it around a bit, there was such an explosion of ferocious energy as they tried to snare it in their paws, teeth, and wrestle it to the floor...even if it is just lying around, one of them will drag it while the other pounces on its sinuously trailing ribbon. It has remained their favorite toy, whenever I move it, they are totally there to pick up the game with the same degree of intensity as the last time I had it out. If you only buy one toy for your cat, it should be this one, and don't be surprised when this simple little thing becomes your pet's favorite!

Review Of KONG Air Dog Squeakair Birthday Balls Dog Toy, Medium, Colors Vary (3 Balls)

After I Buy KONG Air Dog Squeakair Birthday Balls Dog Toy, Medium, Colors Vary (3 Balls)

My dog loves these! she usually rips tennis balls to pieces but she hasn't even tried to destroy them. I think it's because she likes playing with them and making crazy noises with them so much. She likes to play with all three at the same time and hide them under a blanket. Some people might get annoyed by these, dogs enjoy hearing themselves make noise (mine does at least). These are well worth the price. One thing though, i ordered these from amazon and it took over a month to get them.

Review Of Merrick Grain Free 25-Pound Real Duck and Sweet Potato Dog Food, 1 Bag

After I Buy Merrick Grain Free 25-Pound Real Duck and Sweet Potato Dog Food, 1 Bag

Merrick Grain Free Duck and Sweet Potato is a winner in our home. We have two big dogs - one is an allergy dog and the other a senior, and Merrick GF has exceeded our expectations for both. This food is grain free, by-product free for the allergy kid and has good amounts of a glucosamine & chondroitin (supplements for joint health) for my senior. (Plus - and this might be TMI, our seniors stool is much improved on Merrick.) Our "kids" coats are soft and shiny and the vet says their diet is everything he could hope for for any of his clients.

Notable things about Merrick Grain Free Duck & Sweet Potato:

* Made in USA (never any ingredients from China)

* Grain-free, GMO-free (GMO = genetically modified organism)

* Above-average protein and fat when compared to a typical dry dog food.

* contains skin and coat supplements - omega-3 fatty acids (.4%) & omega-6 (4.50%).

* contains joint health supplements - glucosamine hydrochloride (1200 mg/kg) & chondroitin sulfate (1200 mg/kg)

* contains chelated minerals, minerals that have been chemically attached to protein. This makes them easier to absorb.

I only feed 5-star rated foods - as rated by [...] but this food has stood out against many of other 5-star foods we've tried both in cost and my pup's over all satisfaction. We also feed Merrick Turducken Dog Food 13.2 oz (12 Count Case) wet food in additon to the dry. They just gooble this stuff up! Enthusiastically recommended.

Review Of Precious Cat Ultra Premium Clumping Cat Litter, 40 pound bag

After I Buy Precious Cat Ultra Premium Clumping Cat Litter, 40 pound bag

I work at a pet store and own two cats. I'm able to test litter used for one cat per box at home, and multiple cats at the adoption center located within my store. I've also had the opportunity to try a great deal of products. This litter is absolutely amazing, the best I've ever used. The clumps are as hard as rocks, but at the same time don't break apart into smaller pieces like some other litters do. It's unscented, and the litter box remains odorless even after heavy use. It's also dust free.

To compare to other brands:

World's Best is natural, flushable, non-toxic, and clumping. However, if you live in a small house or apartment the smell will get to you. The litter box will smell like vomit even after a couple uses. I have never used Swheat Scoop, but I heard it's a little better with smell than World's Best.

Fresh Step, Tidy Cats, Premium Choice, and Petco's store brand are decent, but each has disadvantages like dust, or clumps breaking apart or turning into sticky mud. They're relatively cheap however, so this is a major advantage for those on a tight budget.

Crystal litters have amazing odor control, last awhile, and don't track. There isn't a single clumping litter that doesn't track. The problem, however is with diarrhea or loose stools. You'll end up throwing away a ton of litter since the crystals don't clump. Not all cats will use the crystals, and some people are also worried about health effects from the silica dust, though companies that produce the litter claim it is non-toxic.

Cedar, crushed pea, pine cone, and cellulose litters all have their own problems. The crushed pea litter is basically dust in a bag. Even though the smells of pine or cedar are pleasant to humans and mask the smell of urine and feces, many cats are afraid of the odor and won't use the litter box. These litters also suffer from the same problems as the crystals with regards to diarrhea and loose stools. Cellulose litters don't smell, but they also cannot handle loose stools and may not absorb as well as crystals.

If a natural, flushable, environmentally litter is important to you, by all means purchase a litter based on wheat or corn. If price is the most important factor, buy a cheap clumping brand if minor inconveniences don't bother you too much. If you want a reasonably priced, high quality product with no dust and great clumping ability then choose Precious Cat Ultra.

Review Of SmartyKat Loco! Laser Cat Toy Interactive Laser Pointer

After I Buy SmartyKat Loco! Laser Cat Toy Interactive Laser Pointer

I've always heard of how you can play with a cat with a laser pointer so I spotted a Loco Laser Cat Toy in a pet shop and I bought it. Well, the cats just go wild over the dancing light I put in their pathway. It's hilarious! And it takes a long time to tire them out!

Well, I give a lot of talks and use PowerPoint presentations. As such I like to have a laser pointer along to point out details on my diagrams and photos. One night I couldn't find my laser pointer. Somewhat distressed, I finally just grabbed my cats' laser toy and went off to the talk. I joked to the audience when I first used it, and they knowingly laughed back. But, you know, this cat toy worked better than any laser pointer I've had up to this time and it was just a fraction of the cost. The dot was wider and brighter and everyone could easily see it. Now, whenever I head off to a talk, the cats' laser toy goes into my pocket.

Review Of KONG Wild Knots Squeaker Bear for Dogs, Small/Medium, Colors Vary

After I Buy KONG Wild Knots Squeaker Bear for Dogs, Small/Medium, Colors Vary

For dogs that are big chewers and really like soft, stuffed toys, this is a very good option. The ropes inside keep it from tearing apart easily. Our pup has had one for a few months now and he really likes it. The stitches are reinforced so he can't rip into as easily. Nothing is more annoying than coming home to a ripped up toy with fluff all over the place for you to pick up.

This also makes a great tug toy since the rope is very durable. The squeaker is not very loud, a good volume so as not to be too annoying to humans.

It's not going to last forever, especially if you have a big dog but it's a fair price and I've bought two so far. Kong lives up to its name and produces another quality toy for a good price.

My boyfriend first purchased The Quiet Time in a large size a few years ago for his Chow Chow and she adored it so much we decided to get another one for our new French Bulldog.

REASONS THIS BED IS SO IDEAL:

1. It adjusts to body temperature so the dog will not overheat (The Chow had a much denser coat than the bare bellied Bulldog and both dogs have been equally enamored with the bed and use it year round.)

2. It's sized perfectly for crates. We use the 24" X 18" Quiet Time in the Bulldog's crate and ordered an additional one for her to lie on around the house or for when she's outside. (See Video...)

3. It's durable, soft, easy to clean, DOES NOT SHED, and is incredibly well priced. Also, the cinnamon color doesn't get dingy and dirty looking as fast as the paler shades and it's also softer, fuzzier and plusher than the white Midwest bed. (We've tried both.)

4. Dogs just adore it and 'Sooner or later' you gotta get one!

After seeing these "hide-a-squirrel" and egg babies toys for a while, I just couldn't picture my 40lb boxer mix puppy (13 months) doing anything but tearing it up and swallowing the eggs. But she doesn't. She gets the eggs out, sets them aside, and looks for more. Once the eggs are out, there's really no stuffing to worry about (except the head, but she's not interested in that part). She did get a LITTLE batting out of the cavity where the eggs go - but the seam stayed in tact. If you're having a hard time picturing what these are all about, see the video!

Review Of KONG Extreme Ball, Dog Toy, Medium/Large

After I Buy KONG Extreme Ball, Dog Toy, Medium/Large

Purchased for a 2-1/2 year old Pit / American Bulldog. She's played with this, non-stop, for the past week. When she's tired, she carries it to the couch and rests her chin on it. There are some small "dent" marks, but no missing pieces/chunks. She is a powerhouse with very strong jaws. When she tries to bear down and do real damage, it nicely slips out of her mouth due to saliva on the ball. Excellent ball for a pittie! Solid rubber. Larger than a tennis ball, smaller than a softball.

Update: 1/25/12 - Ball survived this long. Still pretty much intact, but she's gotten it to the point where she can get little pieces off. She is obsessed with this ball - it is her constant companion. I will keep a backup onhand as long as they make this ball.

Review Of Thermo Kitty Fashion Splash Heated Cat Mat, Mocha

After I Buy Thermo Kitty Fashion Splash Heated Cat Mat, Mocha

I have four cats. Three of them are twenty years old, and the baby is ten. Two of my twenty year-olds are from the same litter. I had their mother and grandmother from birth, and took their great grandmother in as a very young kitten. Their mom lived to be twenty-four. All of my cats are healthy, except that one of the twins has a bit of arthritis. It is pretty much reversed with Cosequin but she seems a little uncomfortable in cold weather, which can hardly be avoided here in Maine. The cats live inside but, with the cost of heating oil, we keep the thermostat on the low side, somewhere below comfortable and above freezing.

They had never had a heated cat bed before but I ordered one of these a couple of months ago for her. Knowing full well that there would be three others waiting their turns, the one with arthritis is the alpha female, and is more likely than the others to get what she wants, so I figured she'd get more than her share of time in the heated bed, and I have several other warm beds for them, although not electrically heated.

The other twin doesn't seem to like the electric bed much, but then she generally takes longer getting used to anything new. She seems afraid of the heating. If you've never used one of these, it only heats up after the cat lies down in it, and roughly matches their body temperatures. When it starts heating up, the other twin will immediately get up as if something had gone terribly wrong, then maybe try it one or two times before deciding on one of the non-electric beds, although I have gotten up in the morning to find her lying in it. (added later: she has since gotten used to the bed, and now prefers it, especially in cool weather)

The other three cats love it, especially the one that I bought it for and the younger one. Frequently, the one in the bed will opt to remain in the bed rather than getting up for meals, probably afraid she'll lose her place.

I've just ordered a second one. They are attractive beds, and they are easy enough to keep clean. I haven't had to wash the one that I have yet, but I wouldn't anticipate any problems with it if it should become necessary; a quick pass with a hand vacuum once every couple of weeks has sufficed so far. The cats love it, so much so that I have witnessed a few brief spats over the use of the bed. The one that I bought it for generally wins these arguments but I still don't like to leave the others out in the cold.

I don't know if it would be the best choice for someone who is looking for a bed for an outdoor cat, or for one who is living in an unheated environment, such as a garage. It has very low sides, so it wouldn't do as good of a job of retaining the heat as might one of the ones with higher sides, or with a top over it. From my experience, three out of four cats give it an enthusiastic thumbs up, and the fourth hasn't decided yet. It took her six months to decide that the cat tree was safe, so I wouldn't count her hesitation against the product.

You may or may not notice that the price of the bed depends on the color. Since my cats haven't expressed their favorite colors to me, I went with the mocha, which is the least expensive choice.

Added nearly a year later: In preparation for another Maine winter, I have just ordered a third one of these beds. Over the summer, I unplugged the beds and the cats still preferred these to the our other kinds of cat beds that they have available to them. In cold weather, we keep the thermostat low, because of the rising costs of heating oil, so I plug the beds in. Cats, as you know, like to be warm, and these beds work very well for them. Three of my cats are now twenty-one, while the fourth is twelve, so I at least want to have one of these for each of the older cats, although before the winter is over I may give in and buy a fourth bed. As it is, they fight over them. These beds have held up very well, and are very easy to clean when necessary. Also, they do not make a discernible bump in our electricity rates. If I could give them six stars, I would.

Added on December 31, 2011: I have just ordered a fourth of these cat beds, so that each of my cats will have one of these. When I first bought one of these, the mocha color was far cheaper than the others. Today, I see that the blue bed is the cheapest. The color doesn't matter to my cats, so I bought the blue one this time. It's been nearly a year since I bought the first one of these beds, this being the second winter with them, and my cats absolutely love them. Two of my cats turned 22 this month, and a third will be 22 next month, and they were fighting over these beds. While it is nice to know that there are still things worth fighting over at their age, it seemed only fair that they each have one of these. Now that I've ordered a blue one, I suppose I'll see if color matters to them. If you are buying one of these for the first time, don't despair if your cat doesn't take to it right away. Cats are cautious, and some cats are more cautious than others. One of my older cats couldn't be forced into one of these beds for the first couple of weeks, but now she loves it. They all do.

August 10, 2012: I now have four of these, one for each cat. Some of them have been washed several times, yet they are all doing well, including the first one that I bought. I have other cat beds which are sometimes used, but these are the preferences for all four of my cats. In the summer, I unplug them, and when the temperatures cool, I plug them in. Either way, they love them.

April 21, 2013: All four of these beds are still in constant use, including the very first one that I bought, and they have gone through many washings.

Review Of KONG Duck Dog Toy, Small, Yellow

After I Buy KONG Duck Dog Toy, Small, Yellow

My miniature dachshund can usually destroy a toy like this one in a couple of hours but this thing really lasts. I was worried about the Velcro closure but it seems to be really strong, she still has not managed to get the squeaker out. AND it comes with an extra squeaker which is a big plus in my book. Definitely worth the price. This toy is even better in real life and has a mix of textures for dogs to chew on. For example underneath the duck's "wings" is a sheepskin type of fabric. Fun.

Review Of 2 in 1 Laser Pet Toy and LED flashlight

After I Buy 2 in 1 Laser Pet Toy and LED flashlight

I highly recommend this laser toy. The laser beam is large and powerful so it can be used very far from where you are sitting. My cat can't get enough, in fact she sits and whines by the drawer that I keep it in.

Review Of Kyjen PP01055 Hide-A-Bee Plush Dog Toys 4-Piece Squeak Toy, Large, Yellow

After I Buy Kyjen PP01055 Hide-A-Bee Plush Dog Toys 4-Piece Squeak Toy, Large, Yellow

My dogs (20 and 40 lbs) loved this toy right when it first came out of the box. However, by the end of the night, the bees were coming apart at the seams. This happened even though I did not allow them to tug at them or sit and try to de-stuff them. By the end of the week, the hive was also coming apart in multiple places. Again, I even took this toy away when I wasn't around to watch them. Of course, all toys, plush or rubber, eventually get destroyed. Sadly, this one didn't last more than a few days.

Review Of Kyjen PP01379 Squeaker Mat Squirrel 16-Squeaker Plush Squeak Toy Dog Toys, Squirrel, Large

After I Buy Kyjen PP01379 Squeaker Mat Squirrel 16-Squeaker Plush Squeak Toy Dog Toys, Squirrel, Large

I have two pitbulls - 70 and 50 lbs - who rip through stuffed animals like there is no tommorow. Anything that is plush and squeaks usually lasts about 10 minutes in our house and their toy bin is basically full of unstuffed carcasses. These squeaker mats though lasted weeks. There is little actual stuffing in them its basically a ton of seams and lots of squeakers - If you have strong dogs, this is the toy for you, even after the squeakers are gone they hold up pretty well as pull toys - I have 4 or 5 of them.

Review Of KONG King Extreme KONG Dog Toy, XX-Large, Black

After I Buy KONG King Extreme KONG Dog Toy, XX-Large, Black

I got the Extreme Kong (black), because my rat terrier had already torn apart a Classic Kong (red). He goes through plush squeaky toys in no time flat. He has chewed pieces out of one Extreme Kong, but not the other two. What have I learned to keep him from shredding Kongs?

1) Always supervise your dog with this toy (at least until you know how well it will hold up). Yes, the instructions say this. It's not just CYA legal BS. Until you know for SURE that *your* dog can't chew through the Extreme Kong, don't leave him unattended with this toy. (Unfortunately, this means that I can't give it to him in his kennel to alleviate boredom when I leave the house.)

2) If your dog has already destroyed other toys, consider sizing up from the "recommended" size. My dog weighs 25 lb, which is solidly in the "medium" range, but the Large Kong is better for his extreme chewing. The Extreme Kong he tore apart was a Medium. He hasn't managed to tear apart the Large yet.

3) Don't fill it all the way with peanut butter. Stuff the bottom 1/2 - 2/3 with dry food or treats and the clog the top 1/3 or so with something soft like peanut butter. If you fill the whole thing with something that's impossible to get out without tearing the toy apart, your dog will tear the toy apart.

4) Wash it on a regular basis. I have more than one Kong so I can still use one while the other is being washed. I like to soak mine in warm, soapy water for a few hours before sticking it in the dishwasher. This seems to get it clean even if there's peanut butter in the crevices. Dried on cheese can be a bit harder to clean out (I use the pointy end of a spoon or even a toothbrush to get at those bits).

5) If you notice your Kong is showing wear, replace it. Once it starts to give, your extreme chewer can destroy it pretty fast. Don't let him get that far!

No toy is indestructible, but the Extreme Kong lasts longer than anything else I've found. Read the insert that comes with your Kong and follow the recommendations to keep your dog safe and entertained.
